Prepare to change your perception of race quadcopter frames.  Even though the frame looks simple and minimalistic, look deeper and you will see every millimeter of the FlightClub Tokio frame has been engineered with an obsession to perfection.

Protection

Heavy emphasis was placed on protection and durability.  Less broken parts means maximum flight time. The FPV camera is the most commonly damaged component.  Tokio has three stages of camera protection.  All three are designed to dissipate the shock of impacts.

  1. Thick protruded lip around the lens.  This is designed so the lens sits inside the frame.
  2. Flexible canopy.  Absorbs the shock of impacts.
  3. Bendable bracket that mounts the camera. (A flexible FPV camera mount is recommended)

An ultra durable Thermoplastic Polyurethane Canopy houses all the delicate electronics.  Unlike a full carbon frame, a flexible canopy can dissipate the shock of impacts.  Carbon fiber is super strong but brittle.  There is zero give.  The impact will either damage the carbon fiber or your delicate onboard electronics.  A semi-flexible canopy is like flying around with a pillow around your electronics. VTX and antenna protection.  The antenna has been engineered to slope down below the propellers and not touch the ground.  If the frame lands upside down the antenna never touches the ground or propellers. Built in motor guards.  The shape of the carbon fiber around the motors is design to protect the motors.  Simple and effective design.

Innovation

Introducing Butter Mount.  An innovative new way of mounting the flight controller stack.  The Butter Mounts are designed in a way the mounting screws never touch the carbon fiber frame.  Motors, unbalanced props or damaged props can transmit noise to the flight controller in the form of vibrations.  These micro vibrations can cause erratic flight behaviors, oscillations and in extreme cases burn out motors and ESCs.  Butter Mounts will greatly reduce if not eliminated flight controller vibration issues. Simple but smart way of mounting the canopy.  Only requires two screws to mount the canopy on the carbon fiber frame.  Makes it really easy to build or do field repairs.  Less hardware equals savings in weight.  Once mounted the canopy is guaranteed to not come off.

Attention to Details
  • Fully chamfered outside edges
  • Completely flat bottom with countersunk screws.  Prevents the battery from getting shredded by protruding screw heads.
  • Hypotensed Carbon fiber.  The frames are rotated 45 degree so the carbon fiber strands run down the arms
  • Antenna ports slightly below the top of the canopy to minimize damage
  • Easy access to change VTX channels
  • USB ports on sides of canopy
  • Camera angle lock (if used with the FOXEER Arrow or RunCam Swift)
  • Easy to swap battery strap
Speed

Great care was put into designing the shape of Tokio.  From the areodynamic canopy to the shape of the carbon fiber frame, we tried to minimize air drag by reducing the surface area in the Z  (vertical) and X (horizontal) axis.

Amazing frame! Super study carbon fiber plate and the pod is really high quality. I didn’t think so many features could be packed into a carbon fiber plate! And on top of that it looks amazing! 6 out of 5 stars would recommend.

I’ve built many many quads and this is the most well thought out and designed frame to date! Everything about this says smooth. From the beveled edges to the canopy design and the butter mounts. Space inside the canopy is tight so you’ll need to think about the layout before you start soldering. Hope fpv-flightclub designs some more frames. I’ll definitely buy if they do.

By far the best frame I have built , and the best design! Lots of attention to small detail, and with the 4 in 1 esc all components except motors are protected by the flexible pod. Fewer broken parts equals more flight time!!! Thanks Mike, outstanding job. Can’t wait to get the SX built!!

I built and flew many frames before this. But TokioX is by far the most enjoyable to build and maintain. Everything is designed to make sure we spend our time flying instead of spending too much time dissassembling and assembling our quads for repairs and maintenance. The frame looks simple, but if you look at the details, every aspect of this frame is fully thought of. You will not regret your purhase.

This is one of the best quality race frames I’ve seen. The edges are already sanded and smooth. Parts fit and finish are perfect. Flight clubs butter FC mounts are a great idea I haven’t seen in any other frame and the canopy fits perfectly and offers great protection for your electronics. I highly recommend this race frame.

My son has now raced the Tokio frame in two events. He has given it quite a beating and it still works great. The camera and electronics are very well protected which was one of my top priorities. I particularly appreciate that the edges are beveled so I did not have to take a file to any sharp edges like the other frames I have. Before one of the races I had to change out transponders and the canopy came off and went back on very quickly. I have two more of these frames on the bench ready for assembly. I highly recommend them.

Most durable frame I’ve ever used. I tend to crash…a lot and the Tokio has handle ever crash.

I’ve purchased the Tokio X as the 2nd frame I’ve ever built as a race quadcopter. The first was a Charpu QAV-X.

I completed my build last weekend with the 35A 4 in 1 ESC, LUX v2, and F40 Pro 2400Kv and DalProp T5045C. It’s got the GoPro Camera mount canopy and I managed to fit the Tramp HV adjustable transmitter with Lumenier AXII all setup so I can adjust my PIDs and Transmit channels including power output all from my Taranis! I just got it tuned up this evening and I’m really pleased with how it handles.

I really like how the frame has the countersunk holes, the chamfered edges (feels solid) and the canopy is just plain bitching!!

All the above and on top of that I’ve really felt like Mike has held my hand through the process of building both quads. This little baby is slick pure and simple.. I’d recommend this frame for sure..

This frame is amazing. The attention to detail and the way the carbon is cut makes it a awesome frame. The lifetime warranty is also great. Customer service is outstanding. I look forward to learning to fly better faster with less repair time with this frame. Flightclub thank you for the effort to make a truly leading edge quad frame.

The Tokio X frame appears to me as a highly carefully planned High end reacing frame. It is manufactured with highest precision and it is as much joy putting these beautiful components together as racing it. I use it with the raceflight setup and the bolt ESC with X-foot 2207 motors. i like most the invention of the buttermounted FC, it ensures brilliant functionallity of the gyro in my case. due to a high risk manoever that I messed up the bottom plate on the outer end of one of te arms. The flightclub stood fast and reliable to their word and exchanged the bottomplate at once. I highly remommend this frame as I think its one of the most sophisticated frames to fly with to date and as it condenses in a pure and beautiful design durability and performance.

My first experience with a x-frame type build was the qavx, which I followed FPV Flight Club’s tutorial on youtube. The quality of the video and instructions were great! Then noticing that a frame was developed and hearing about the thought and features it was coming with…I just had to have!

Building was a pleasure! Especially with the Betaflight F3 all in one – everyone was kept nice and tidy and fit well under the canopy (with the vtx, frsky xm+, and various wires. The smoothed edges made handling the frame a nice experience and less pre-work in the build. I haven’t crashed it yet, but it definitely feels like a quality frame. The canopy was also well designed with windows cut for: various fpv camer angles, usb access to the fc (both left and right side), rx antenna, vtx board, and vtx antenna. The two screws holding it down make it easily to quickly access the insides for repairs/adjustments to the fpv camera angle.

If I could change one thing, would be that I wish there was an option or note when I initially purchased the frame for the tpu printed runcam swift mount. I would have definitely purchased this as I noticed the metal mount that comes with the runcam swift can be easily bent. If the stl file for the mount could be shared…that would be great =) Can’t wait for the injection mold of the canopy!

I’d definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a tight build and one that can withstand a beating. I may need to buy a couple more when i consider becoming more competitive in races.

Thanks FPV Flight Club for designing an awesome frame! Maybe consider different size frames (3”, 4”, and 6”)?

Mike basically built my first quad a qav-xs one email at a time. Lol! So after trusting his guidance while building my first quad and listening to his design goals in his first clean-sheet quadcopter frame, I knew I had to give the Tokio X and try. Mike had three design expectations, make the Tokio X easy to build, protection, and make it fast. Well just looking at it you know it’s gonna be fast. Easy to build, this was my second build and I finished it in three hours. Coming from a Noobs perspective, I had no issues building the Tokio X and with its protection this quad is perfect for anyone wanting to build their first quadcopter. And because of FlightClub’s customer service I knew if I had any questions during my build Mike would answer them quickly. Throw in the frames lifetime warranty it’s a no brainer. So Mike, awesome job on the Tokio X, I can’t wait to see what’s coming next.

The Tokio X frame is by far the best I’ve flown. I love the compact and tight build keeping everything protected under the canopy. Any modern motors will make this build quite agile! Thanks Mike for a wonderful and well-thought product.

Ive been flying this frame for about 6 weeks now and can say I’m as impressed with it as i had hoped i would be. The carbon is fantastic quality, its really stiff and the chamfered edges are a great touch. Minimal holes in it and with only 3 motor screw holes now it really has no weak points on the frame.

The pod is a thing of beauti. Looks sleek and provides all the protection you need. While flying in carparks the thing just bounces in crashes instead of hearing that normal horrible carbon crunching sound.
Overally very happy with the frame and the best one ive used in around 2 years of flying race drones.
